To the LGBTQ and Allied Campus Community:
With the implementation of a hiring freeze on October 10, 2008, the search process to hire our next Director of LGBTQ Affairs has been put on hold. The Dean of Students Office remains committed to filling this position when hiring restrictions are lifted. We are also committed to maintaining programs and services for the LGBTQ & Ally community until a new Director is in place.
Dr. Keith Humphrey, Associate Dean of Students, will be serving as Interim Director of LGBTQ Affairs. Keith has extensive knowledge and experience working with the campus LGBTQ community. Please contact him for any needs. Keith is located in Old Main 203 and can be reached via telephone at 621-7057 or via email at khumphrey@arizona.edu. Also, Lindsey Reuter is interning with the Office of LGBTQ Affairs this academic year, and will be part of the team who ensures the Office continues to run smoothly during this transition. Once the hiring freeze has been lifted, our hope is to have a thoughtful search. We will make sure the community is aware of our timeline for campus interviews once the process is begun.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any thoughts or questions. We want to reassure you that the Office of LGBTQ Affairs is very strong, and programs and events will continue during the transition period. We also will be sure to keep the campus informed of the search process.
